Collaborators

The operation and development of systems and databases used in Digital Infectious Disease Preparedness is achieved through a collaborative effort including other parts of Infectious Disease Preparedness at Statens Serum Institut (SSI), the Ministry of the Interior and Health, and its agencies, including several healthcare sector stakeholders.

The regions and the regional Departments of Clinical Microbiology (DCM) are among our closest collaborators. The Danish Microbiology Database (MiBa) is continuously developed in close collaboration between SSI and the DCMs, where laboratory information system providers also play a central role.

All microbiological test results from SSI’s reference laboratory and the DCMs are automatically transferred to MiBa in real-time. The test results are displayed via various regional systems, such as Sundhedsjournalkomplekset, including Laboratoriesvarportalen and the MinSundhed app. Display of test results is owed to close collaboration with the administration of the North Denmark Region and Sundhed.dk. The displaying of results through integration with the electronic patient journal (EPJ) is achieved by collaboration with the IT departments and application suppliers of the regions.

Data are exchanged using Medcom standards and within he Danish Health Data Network, placing Medcom as a key collaborator.

The development and operation of the Healthcare-associated Infections Database (HAIBA), including development and validation of algorithms, is also achieved in close cooperation with DCMs and infection control units.

The continuous collection and reporting of surveillance data is an important element in the infectious disease surveillance measures. The data and prepared reports underpin the work of our collaborators in the Ministry of the Interior and Health, including the Danish Health Data Authority, the Danish Society for Patient Safety, and the Danish Health Authority, facilitating the conduct of their authority tasks. We also provide reports for regional and municipal authorities, thereby supporting their local and regional initiatives. SSI has close collaborations in place with the Danish Health Data Authority to ensure coherence with the national infrastructure of health IT and national registries.

At Data Integration and Analysis (DIAS), we participate in the network of collaborative forums that exist within health IT, data and classification, both nationally and internationally. This ensures efficient coordination and reliable communication, which are essential to overall collaboration and solving tasks across sectors in general and during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
